1Tim.1.6 - Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk.
1Tim.1.7 - They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
Paul's first letter to Timothy is a form of admonishment to everyone to make good use of the gospel. They shouldn't use it to promote any form of evil or ungodly practices.
It's main focus is on people who have turned the gospel into something else to suit their machinations.
Most don't do it intentionally though, they just don't have the understanding nor do they know the depth of the scriptures.
Instead of seeking the help of the Holy Spirit in interpreting the scriptures, they settle for their own shallow understanding. Their aim is chasing clout and not being fully invested in spreading the gospel of Christ to others.
Others however, purposely choose to mislead the ignorant. They have backslided totally and their total concentration is on dragging others into their kind of life.
This shouldn't be so. The main purpose of the gospel is for it to be preached and many brought back to the fold. It would be unfair for you who knows nothing about the gospel to deceive naive people with it. Remember, you shouldn't speak the word you don't understand.
The consequences attached are too dire to mention. Anyone who knowingly deceives another with the gospel will be judged strictly by God. This is because just like teachers, humans tend to believe what comes out of a man of authority. A man in a high echelon tends to demand and command much respect and reverence. Which is why people fall victim to false teachers.
The gospel of Christ was meant for believers to take across the globe and preach it with the help of Christ. Don't take laws into your own hands and do it of your own accord.
However, christians should also beware of false teachings. It would be unfortunate for anyone to fall victim to it. In this race, you need to know God for yourself regardless of what is being preached on the altar.
Sometimes, the message preached on the altar might not be your word for the day. It could be another's word, which is why you should be careful and discover the person of Jesus for yourself rather than believing everything you hear about him and swallowing it all hook, line and sinker.
Knowing someone for yourself makes you understand the person fully. It helps you detect the person's likes and dislikes and his overall essence. That is how it is with knowing Christ. That knowledge gives you an edge over other believers.
Before Christ ascended to heaven, he talked about the signs of the end times and false teachers rising everywhere was part of such signs.
So, be careful of people that claim to know Jesus in the guise of swindling you. The safer option is to KNOW HIM FOR YOURSELF
