I always say that personal development can only make sense after self-discovery or purpose-discovery. This is because you can't develop rightly if you have not discovered what you are meant to develop.

Personal development is essentially about carefully feeding your mind, because any seed that is being planted in your mind at an early age will grow with you and most of the times, they would form your character and the type of person that you later turn out to be in the future. As a result, one must be cautious about the things that he feeds his mind.

Personal development is consciously adding value to yourself, which must be relevant, informative and specific to your purpose most of the time. You should also be informed on any topic in that field. Just make up your mind to be knowledgeable in that field and other fields too. This can take several forms such as reading widely, watching, listening and researching. Thus we can say that personal development is learning that occurs not only in school but throughout one's life. Personal development is a lifelong commitment to educate oneself and stay up to date on relevant information. It brings more clarity, develops your mind and makes you build competence in your field of endeavor. And as your value increases, you become valuable to those around you, especially in your area of strength and interest. You will be someone of value if you are given to personal development.
